For our February Vendor Spotlight, we are excited to feature JBK Mobile DJ Entertainment! We've had the honor of working with JBK Mobile DJ for various events and know first hand that they are one of the top DJ talents in Central Ohio. They specialize in weddings & corporate events, but also perform at school and other types of community and private events. JBK primarily serves the Central Ohio area, but is available for some travel. Owner, Jeff Snow, brings a great energy to every event he covers and is a pro when it comes to keeping your guests dancing all night long. JBK specializes in Top 40 and party favorites from the 80's, 90's and today. Not only is the owner Jeff talented as a DJ and entertainer, but his customer service is second to none. He's dedicated to making his clients dream events come true by getting to know them, learning what they're looking for, and catering his services to make their event one to remember.
What is the story behind JBK Mobile DJ?
I have always loved entertaining others. My journey really began when I started working as a part time Top 40 radio personality in 2000. I was very fortunate to have worked with some very talented entertainers from 2000-2008 and it was A LOT of fun too! I got my start performing at mobile events in 2007, while working for a friend. Then in 2011, I had the opportunity to start my own company, and that’s when JBK began.
How did you choose your name? What does JBK stand for?
It was really hard to choose a name for a business, but after a lot of thought, I decided on JBK based on the first initials of my family. J(eff), B(rady (my son)), K(ylie (my wife)).
What is your inspiration for your business?
In addition to entertaining their guests, I really enjoy working with couples and helping them plan out all of the entertainment details for their wedding reception. I always feel privileged to be a part of one of the most important days of their lives.
What makes your company unique from other DJ services?
I really believe that a fun and memorable wedding reception starts with great pre-event planning. My goal is to be very easily accessible via phone, text message, or email and respond quickly to questions and inquiries. I always strive to make sure that we have covered every detail before the reception, so that our clients have peace of mind and can really enjoy the celebration with their family and guests.
Who performs at JBK’s events?
All of our clients have the peace of mind knowing that I will be personally performing at their event. From the initial consultation and through out the planning period, our clients are welcome to call, text message, or email me any time. I am always happy to help in any way possible.
What’s the most important thing a couple looking for a DJ service for their wedding day should know?
Prices for Wedding DJ’s in the Central Ohio market can vary widely. I have seen pricing for other DJ’s range from less than $500.00 to more than $1,300.00. It is really important for clients to understand what they are really getting for their entertainment investment. For one of our typical 5 hour wedding packages, we typically invest at least 25 hours. This includes the time we invest for the pre-event planning with the bride & groom, making contact with other key vendors, travel time, setup, tear down, and much more. In addition, we also provide our clients with access to comprehensive online planning and song request forms. I understand that pricing for the entertainment can sometimes be a bit of a shock, but investing in a great entertainer really helps to protect the investments that couples make in the venue, food & beverage, and everything else they have done to make their reception fun and memorable.
How far in advance should clients book their DJ?
As soon as they possibly can! In general, I would suggest booking at least 6 months in advance. For some more popular dates/times of the year, we are booked as much as a year or more in advance.
What other tips do you have for those looking for a DJ?
My best suggestion is to try and meet with the DJ who will actually be performing at your event, prior to signing the contract. While there are other important considerations to keep in mind such as the types of equipment/backup plans a DJ has, I really believe that it is also important to figure out if you have a “connection” with your entertainer. Do they understand what your expectations are? Can they provide suggestions that compliment your vision for your reception?
What is your most memorable moment from a wedding?
We had a couple in 2013 that fired up chainsaws for their cake cutting. It was a joke, and they ended up actually using the typical utensils, but it was definitely a fun and unique surprise.
What do you love the most about what you do?
It is so rewarding to see all the hard work and pre-event planning come together on the wedding day.
